Availability of the rolling bins

The bins are available at Public Works 300 Beaurepaire.

Where do I put my rolling bin for collection?

- Always place the rolling container at the curbside.
- The logo on your bin must face the street and the wheels must face your residence.
- Leave at least 60 cm (2 feet) of clearance on each side and at the back of the bin.
- Make sure that no vehicle or object interferes with the mechanical lifting of the rolling bin.
- All recyclable materials must be inside the container. Items outside the bin will not be picked up. Wait for the next collection.
- The lid of the bin must be free of all debris (recyclable materials, snow, etc.).

To find out more about Beaconsfield recycling program, an information leaflet is available at the Public Works office.

Leaf Collection

You can bring your bags of leaves and empty them out at the bulk material site located at 300 Beaurepaire Drive, next to the fire station at the west end of the parking lot. Every year, leaves taken to this site account for two-thirds of the leaves collected in the city. These are later sent to the Saint-Michel Environment Complex for recycling and composting.

Diseased leaves can be also dropped at the public works leaf depot.

Branch Collection

Every year there are three branch collection periods, one in the spring and another in autumn. The period for spring pick-up starts at the beginning of April until the end of June. The pick-up in autumn starts at the end of August until mid-November.

2010 Spring Pick-up

Public Works crews will start free branch pick-up and chipping on
April 12. There will be three collections in each sector, however certain rules apply:

  • Branches will have to be out by the side of the road no later than the first day of the collection (before 8:00 a.m.) , according to the dates listed below.
  • Your branches should be piled up by the side of the road, perpendicular to your property, trunck towards the road. The diameter of the branches should not exceed 15 cm ( 6 inches) and the height no more than 1,22 m (4 feet);
  • During these free branch pick-ups we do not collect roots, stumps or logs; you can dispose of them by bringing them yourself to the municipal drop-off or you may request a special pick-up from our service (minimum fee of $60).
  • Once a collection has taken place in a sector, branches put out too late will not be picked up until the next collection, unless you pay a minimum of $60 for a special pick-up.
  • Under no circumstances should branches be left in the City's green spaces.

Special pick-up

An inspector will give you a cost estimate for the pick-up service. The rate is a minimum of $95 per pick-up. If you are not home for estimation, the inspector will leave a copy of the cost estimate inside your mailbox. Before proceeding with the pick-up, you are required to make the payment at City Hall.

Recycling Metal

Household appliances or metal items (cast iron, iron, copper, etc.), are collected by an independent contractor once a week on Fridays.

This service is free. Residents must however notify the Public Works department at 428-4500 about items they want to recycle and the date the item will be placed in front of their house.
