Any person entered on the list of electors may vote. Electors are responsible for making sure their name is on the list. You can check the list on the website of the Directeur général des élections du Québec (electionsquebec.qc.ca).

In early October, you will receive by mail a notice indicating the name of each person entered on the list at your address.

If your name does not appear on the list, you will have to appear before the Board of Revisers to have it entered.

To appear on the list of electors, you must meet the following conditions:

im 2  Be 18 years of age on November 5, 2017; and

im 2  On, September 1, 2017 :
- be a Canadian citizen;
- not be under curatorship;
- not have been found guilty of an offence that is a corrupt electoral practice;

im 2  And at that same date (September 1), you must meet one of the following two conditions:
- be domiciled in the municipality and have been domiciled in Québec for at least six months;
- have been, for at least 12 months, the owner of an immovable or the occupant of a business establishment situated on the territory of the municipality.

An elector who is not domiciled in the municipality, but who is the owner of an immovable or the occupant of a business establishment situated on the territory of the municipality, must transmit a signed writing to the municipality asking to have his name added to the list of electors.

Persons who are co-owners of an immovable or co-occupants of a business establishment must designate from among themselves, by means of a power of attorney sent to the municipality, only one person who can be entered on the list of electors.

In both cases, it is possible to obtain the application for entry form and the power of attorney form at the returning officer’s office.
