NUTRITION AND THE EVOLUTION OF THE BRAIN
For adults, in English
Human beings can be distinguished from other mammals by their extraordinary intelligence. We will examine the forces that may have driven the development of intelligence/brain size in our species and the price we have had to pay for it. The percentage of our energy budget that our brain requires is far greater that of any other animal species. How did the evolving ancestors of Homo sapiens change their diet to supply the energy and nutrients necessary for the evolution of our brain and intelligence?
