SCIENCE IN THE MOVIES
Library, 303 Beaconsfield Blvd. • for adults, in English
Films can do more than entertain; they can be highly educational! It is fascinating to explore how science is portrayed in fictional classics like Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde as well as in historical biopics such as The Story of Louis Pasteur and Dr. Ehrlich’s Magic Bullet. The story of the discovery of insulin in the CBC’s Glory Enough for All and the BBC’s depiction of the story of penicillin in Breaking the Mould are particularly worthy of analysis. With Dr. Joe Schwarcz.
