Notice to residents of the cities served by the Dorval and Pointe-Claire water plants
Citizens have recently noticed that the drinking water has an earthy taste. This unusual situation is due to the presence of algae in the river. The warm weather in May combined with the low water level in the river has favoured the premature development of algae.
Algae is removed during the drinking water treatment process at the plant. There are however some species of algae that release a molecule which gives an earthy taste to the water. The plant staff is working to improve the treatment process to eliminate the taste which may still persist in the network while the water is being renewed.
This situation represents no danger to health. You can continue to consume tap water.
