Home My City Administration and Finances FAQ: CodeRed cybersecurity incident

FAQ: CodeRed cybersecurity incident

1. How do I know if I have previously created a CodeRED password or account?

A password would have been created when you opened your CodeRED account, usually through the CodeRED or OnSolve website. Since the CodeRED database is currently inaccessible, it is not possible to directly verify the status of an account.

If you previously received an automated phone call from the City of Beaconsfield through CodeRED, such as the election notice sent on Friday, October 10, 2025, this means you were registered with CodeRED. The CodeRED system used phone numbers 855-969-4636 or 866-419-5000.

You can still check your password manager or your saved password lists for entries associated with “CodeRED” or “OnSolve” or with the URL :  https://public.coderedweb.com This may help you determine whether you created an account and which password you used.

2.  Was my CodeRED account linked to other City services, such as Bciti, IC3 or my library account? Should I change the passwords for these services?

CodeRED accounts were not connected to other City services such as Bciti, IC3 or the library. As a precaution, CodeRED recommends that anyone who reused their CodeRED password for other personal or professional accounts update those passwords immediately, especially if the same password is used for multiple online services. If in doubt, it is recommended that you change your passwords.

3. What should I do if I may have reused my CodeRED password?

If you reused your CodeRED (OnSolve) password for other accounts, please change those passwords as soon as possible and ensure that each account uses a unique and strong password.

4. Is the decision to change providers related to the CodeRED cybersecurity incident?

No. The City’s decision to change providers is not related to the cybersecurity incident.

The City chose to adopt a new service because CodeRED gradually evolved into highly specialized features that no longer aligned with our municipal needs. This more niche direction reduced the platform’s relevance for Beaconsfield.

In this context, the City began searching for a solution better suited to its reality and operational requirements in 2025.
