New configuration at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and the Highway 20 ramps

Safety and Prevention October 21, 2026

Once the work currently underway on Woodland Avenue is complete, new road markings will be put in place at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and the Highway 20 ramps. They will change how drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians use the road. Here is what you need to know.

Drivers
In both directions (northbound and southbound), the left lane will be for left turns only. Continuing straight from this lane will no longer be permitted. To stay on Woodland Avenue, you will need to use the right lane.

Cyclists
At the intersection of Woodland Avenue and the Highway 20 ramps, cyclists will be required to use the sidewalks set up for them.
Cyclists must ride in the direction of traffic:

  • northbound, on the east side sidewalk, which will be reserved for cyclists;
  • southbound, on the west side sidewalk, which they will share with pedestrians.

Bike boxes will also be added at the traffic lights on Woodland Avenue (northbound) and Beaurepaire (eastbound). They allow cyclists to wait ahead of vehicles at a red light, making them more visible and helping them get going safely.

Pedestrians
To cross Highway 20, pedestrians will be required to use the sidewalk on the west side of Woodland Avenue. This sidewalk will be shared with cyclists, and ground markings will separate each space. The east side sidewalk will be reserved for cyclists.

Stay safe
These changes are meant to make travel clearer and safer for everyone. In the meantime, please follow the signs in place during construction. Once the new markings are in place, slow down, follow the signs, and stay in the designated lanes.
