Open house: climate and community resilience

On May 1, 2025, we held an informal day of practical tips on how to better protect your home and family from the effects of climate change (flooding, extended power outages and falling trees).

There were guest speakers, themed stalls, discussions and advice to help you better prepare for these weather-related events.

We have compiled the information and presentation recordings on this page.

Presentations held in the Library’s Discovery room.

The Connecting Beaconsfield project: Building climate resilience through social connection

If there was a power outage, heat wave, shortage of water, or flood in your neighbourhood, do you know who might need help or who you could turn to if you needed help? Social connection plays an important role in responding to and recovering from these types of events. The Connecting Beaconsfield project aims to increase feelings of closeness and a sense of belonging in the community, thereby also increasing resilience.
