Highlights
Contracts to support municipal services
Council approved several contracts to maintain the quality of municipal services and move forward with priority projects. These contracts include the acquisition of a sidewalk snowplow, a drainage study and planning for corrective work at Rockhill Park, as well as paving work at the Woodland-Beaurepaire-Elm intersection.
These contracts will enable the City to improve its infrastructure, increase operational efficiency, and better meet community needs.
Three by-laws for responsible management
Council adopted By-laws BEAC-029-2 on budget control and monitoring, BEAC-082-2 on the delegation of powers and payment authorizations, and BEAC-186 concerning contract management.
These by-laws strengthen control mechanisms, transparency, and integrity in municipal processes, in compliance with the Act respecting contracting by public bodies.
Rail safety and arthritis awareness
Council endorsed Rail Safety Week, which will take place from September 21 to 27, 2026, to promote safe behaviour near railway tracks and level crossings.
September was also designated Arthritis Awareness Month to increase understanding of the disease and support those living with arthritis and their families.
Activities that bring the community together
Council authorized the Vintage Car Picnic at Centennial Park on September 12 (in case of rain, September 13).
As an example of its support for local associations, Council authorized the closure of Harwood Gate to enable the Beacon Hill Community Association to hold its annual Corn Roast.
Ferme Rêveuse will also be permitted to use two parking spaces at Christmas Park on Fridays, from September 18, 2026, until the return of the Marché Beau in May 2027, to distribute fresh produce.
These authorizations demonstrate the City’s commitment to supporting community activities and fostering social cohesion.
