The City wishes to remind residents that drone use is governed by federal rules established by Transport Canada.
In Beaconsfield, particular attention is required, as the City is largely located within controlled airspace. Before flying a drone, users must verify the restrictions that apply to the specific flight location, including through NAV Drone.
Beyond regulatory requirements, drones must always be operated safely, responsibly and respectfully. Flying a drone over private property, a backyard, a pool or any area where people may reasonably expect privacy can raise serious privacy concerns.
Before flying a drone, consult Transport Canada’s rules, verify applicable restrictions through NAV Drone and obtain the required authorizations, when necessary.
To report dangerous or irresponsible drone use, complete Transport Canada’s drone incident report form. In an emergency or if there is an imminent danger, call 9-1-1. For a privacy-related situation, contact the local police service.
